WHAT WE DO

METAL WORK

Our metal shop comes with a wide range of equipment from grinding, metal turning, bending and welding. We have experienced metal workers with years of experience to assist newcomers. You can do your own projects or take on some of the “walk in” metalwork repairs that we get from the local community.

WOOD WORK

The shed caters for all levels of wood and metal workers. Members are encouraged to bring their own projects and for the less experienced, one of our supervisors are on hand to guide you safely through your project. We also have shed and community projects for members to partake in. These come in all shapes and sizes from benches, picnic tables, possum boxes, bee hives, mahjong tile and playing card holders. Furniture restoration is high on shed activities and a source of income and we have become a kind of “repair shop” for the local community

METAL WORK

Guest speakers covering men’s health issues, shed safety, machine usage, wills and end of life planning, phone and computer scams. Social interaction between members and their partners is an important part of shed life. Regular functions include: • Evening sausage sizzle on the 2nd Tuesday of the month • Members only casual lunches where selected members do the cooking. • Members and partners theme dinners. These are either in the form of a spit roast or are outside catered • Maintaining a vegetable garden • Playing cards and chess • Salami making

Membership

The Shed has around 100 members. In 2023 we adopted a policy of inclusiveness and opened membership to women. There are some 20 lady members who have full voting rights and they have their own day and are supervised by male members. The Shed welcomes new members and encourage anyone interested to call into the shed or to contact us.
