Our Shed
The Dunsborough Men's Shed is 650 square metres plus a paved patio of 160 square metres. The shed includes a secure timber storage section, specific areas for metal and wood working machinery, and a separate area for work benches. There is also a 90 square metre recreational room equipped with a kitchen.
The shed has a range of quality machinery and tools to cater for every carpentry or welding requirement. Dust protection is provided by a fully ducted dust extraction system.

Our History

August 2013The establishment of the Dunsborough Community Mens Shed (DCMS) commenced on 5 August 2013 at Artezan, attended by David Bell, Peter Thomas, Mike Allison, and Joe McEncroe.

January 2014Preference for the Dunsborough Lakes Drive site submitted to Shire, with a proposed shed size of 360 sqm.

July 2016Dunsborough Community Greenfields Committee successfully applied for a $117,000 grant from Lotteries West for the Dunsborough Men’s Shed.

October 2017Official opening of the shed by Hon. Nola Marino MP, on 27 October.

September 201970SQM enclosed annex completed.

September 2021Ducted dust extraction system commissioned.

October 2023AGM granted full voting rights to Lady members.

December 2024130sqm of paved area completed

December 2013DCMS was incorporated. Life member Mike Allwood offered his shed until a permanent one was built.

July 2014Initial site design, concepts, and early applications for grants began.

December 2016The foundation slab poured for a shed 510 SQM. April 2017: Construction of the shed complete and the fit-out process commenced.

October 2018DCMS Constitution debated and ratified.

October 2020A motion to accommodate women in the shed was defeated with further discussions to be undertaken.

October 2021AGM voted in favour of accepting women in the shed, designating Wednesday as Ladies Day.

March 2024A Shed extension of 75sqm completed.

February 2025Completion of a further shed extension of 125 sqm with the shed now covering 650 sqm. Additional paving completed to give a total of 160 sqm.
Membership
The Shed has around 100 members. In 2023 we adopted a policy of inclusiveness and opened membership to women. There are some 20 lady members who have full voting rights and they have their own day and are supervised by male members. The Shed welcomes new members and encourage anyone interested to call into the shed or to contact us.
